An award is given to a graduating Indigenous undergraduate or graduate student who has overcome significant challenges. The award is given out twice a year, in June and November, and recipients are recognized at Indigenous Recognition Ceremonies.
Eligibility
• To be eligible for graduate scholarships, you must be unconditionally admitted to a master’s or doctoral degree program and enrolled in a sufficient number of units in your graduate degree program (see below).
• A minimum GPA of 6.0/9.0 or higher (as of 2022-2023) and a minimum of 1.50 units per term are required for UVic Graduate Awards of up to $10,000 per academic year.
• Graduate Awards permit part-time enrollment in a minimum of 1.5 units per term.
•Graduate donor awards, which are funded by private donors, require full-time enrollment in at least 3.0 units unless the scholarship’s specific terms state that it may be issued to a part-time student or a student who has completed their graduate program. See the complete list of donor awards and their terms.
• Graduate students registered with the Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL) are considered full-time when enrolled in 1.5 units or more, and are eligible for all UVic graduate scholarships when enrolled in 1.5 units or more. Students must identify themselves to FGS and email [email protected] a copy of their CAL letter.
