International students who meet the required qualifications can apply for the Chevening Scholarship, which is provided by the UK government. If you want to be considered for the Chevening Scholarship, you must have applied to at least three UK master’s programs.
This scholarship includes a generous living allowance in addition to tuition coverage. Additionally, it covers the cost of your return flight from your nation to the UK.
Every year in August, the application period opens for admission the following year.
Requirements
To be eligible for a Chevening Scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:
- You must be a resident of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.
- Return to your home country for at least two years after your award has expired.
- By the time you submit your application, you should have completed all components of an undergraduate degree that will allow you to gain entry into a postgraduate programme at a UK university.
- This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honors degree in the United Kingdom, but it may differ depending on your course and university of choice.
- Have at least two years of work experience (equivalent to 2,800 hours).
- Apply to three different UK university courses and have an unconditional offer from one of these options by July 13, 2023.

- Are you an employee, a former employee, or a relative* of an employee of Her Majesty’s Government, or have been within the last two years from the opening of Chevening applications (including the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, all British Embassies/High Commissions, the Home Office, the Ministry of Defence, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the Department for International Trade, and the UKVI), the British Council, a sponsoring UK university, or the British Council
- Employees, former employees, or relatives* of an employee of Chevening Partner organizations are eligible to apply; however, if the employment occurred within the last two years, you cannot receive a Chevening Partner Award from the organization for which you work, previously worked, or are related.
- Have previously studied in the United Kingdom with the assistance of a UK Government-funded scholarship.
Having a master’s degree does not preclude you from applying for a Chevening Award to study for a second master’s degree in the UK, as long as you can clearly explain how it will help you fulfill your career goals of influencing positive change in your home country.
